FILMMAKERS
For over 25 years local filmmakers and film enthusiasts have come to watch locally made short films at GMAC Film’s monthly ‘open mic’ night for film, Café Flicker. You can find out more about Café Flicker and how to get your film screened HERE. Cafe Flicker is open to people of all ages and backgrounds.
From the early 1990’s until 2009 GMAC Film was one of the leading commissioners of short film in Scotland, supporting grass roots filmmakers to make films and develop their creative voice, many of whom are working in the screen industries today. The films commissioned won multiple national and international awards including BAFTA Scotland and the Berlinale Golden Bear. It is our goal to document this important body of work and make it available to view by 2022, our 40th anniversary.
When funding permits, we also deliver funded training, production and CPD projects for the independent filmmaking community, responding to feedback from filmmakers and from industry. Previous projects have included Second Light filmmaking apprenticeships for BAME filmmakers, Foot In The Door career development for Scottish based producers and directors and Scotland On Demand, a screenwriting mentoring and development programme for BAME writers, delivered in partnership with Sky Drama.
